Ansel Bloom
Tutor, Test Prep and Academic Subjects
In my free time, I love exploring the outdoors through hiking, kayaking, and volunteering in local parks. I also find joy in baking for friends and family and wish I had more time to read simply for pleasure. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Drew University, where I graduated summa cum laude with minors in statistics and Russian language. I’ve completed graduate coursework in clinical psychology at the University of North Dakota and am currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology at Point Park University. Over the past several years, I’ve tutored across a range of subjects—including academic writing, statistics, psychology, and Russian—and have served as a teaching assistant in both statistics and psychology departments.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is connecting with students to uncover their unique learning styles, motivations, and any barriers they may be facing—especially those rooted in test anxiety or academic stress. My early experience as a peer academic coach shaped my belief that confidence and understanding go hand in hand. One of my most formative academic relationships was with my college advisor, Professor Dolan, who guided my academic journey with empathy and insight—an approach I strive to mirror with my own students. I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to grow as an organizational coach and, ultimately, to become a licensed clinical psychologist. Fun fact: when I’m not studying or tutoring, I love creating art from found objects—it’s one of my favorite creative outlets.
