Jackie Rowell

Marketing and Outreach Director

Jackie Rowell is Clayborne’s Marketing and Outreach Director, and she is energized by investing in people. There’s nothing she enjoys more than watching someone grow and knowing she played a part in it. A former college lacrosse player at Grove City College, Jackie learned on the field how much every person’s role matters, and she brings that same team-first mindset to her work, valuing genuine relationships and working toward unity wherever she goes. Her biggest inspiration is her sister, Emily, who is five years older and someone Jackie has followed in more ways than one: both played college lacrosse, both grew up at the same summer camp and served as captains there, and a few years ago Emily even followed Jackie to Grove City to become her coach (making for what we can only assume were the most encouraging practices in the history of the sport).

When she’s not working, you’ll usually find Jackie outside hiking, climbing, running, road biking, or hunting for a new trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She grew up whitewater rafting with her family and recently got to lead others through the New River Gorge on a retreat that also included climbing Seneca Rocks in West Virginia. She is currently training for the Charlottesville 10 Miler in March, and someday she hopes to sell her own pottery and enjoy a coffee on a café balcony in Italy. A book that has shaped her profoundly is The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness by Tim Keller, which she first read in high school and still revisits about once a year. Fun facts: Jackie once helped build a house on the coast of Kenya, and she has an uncanny knack for recognizing people by the way they walk (so if you plan to sneak up on her in the office, you’ll need to work on your gait).
